A megaformer (also sold as a coreformer or mega pilates machine) is a Lagree-style dual-rail resistance machine used for high-intensity, low-impact strength and endurance training. It is built around two parallel rails with separate moving carriages, a wider and lower platform than a standard pilates reformer, and a spring-based resistance system with multiple attachment points.
How it differs from a standard reformer: a standard reformer has a single carriage running on a centered rail, a narrower carriage, and a foot bar oriented to classical pilates repertoire. A megaformer is wider (about 1000 mm across, versus roughly 690 mm for a reformer), lower to the ground, and designed for standing work on the platform, side-lying and lunging movements, and fast transitions between exercises without resetting springs. That makes it the preferred machine for high-intensity studio formats, while a reformer remains the choice for classical pilates training and rehabilitation.
